Empowered by a fractured concept of jouissance the body and voice are central to a succession of mysterious utterances, denoting transgressions and excessive pleasures derived from a shattered libidinal economy.

Mawdsley guides the listener through this topography of catastrophe starring a map of erogenous zones haunted by horror kitsch organs and caustic Morriconian guitars. Between these demarcations of corporeal sublimation, sumptuous layers emerge, tender and holistic – repairing abandoned sites of Oedipal carnage to reconfigure and focus the mind and body as an imperfect Vitruvian subject, ecstatic and complete.

‘Luke Two’ is a celebration of earthly delights and metaphysical terror- an immersive purgatory illuminated by profane poetry and precise
musicianship. An eclectic sensibility weaves through each of these sacred recordings, enhanced and redecorated with erudite pop shots and self effacing wit. Mawdsley’s aural sculptures revolve and shimmer within a network of deconstructed industrial rhythms, poignant melodies and chimes, recalling a recovered musical box, rescued from obscurity.
